Michigan creek has 2 lower sections to fish and is a very small, but productive creek.  You’ll be surprised by the size of the trout that come out of such a small river.  Though most will be in the 4 – 14″ range, you’ll get a couple in the 16+ category if you put in enough time and are stealthy enough.  This is a small, brush-covered creek typical of the small creeks of Southpark.  Short, stealthy casts with a dry fly, nymph or streamer can produce some fun fishing.  Try to spread out and give some space if other anglers are fishing as the access is limited and the creek is small, so high-holing someone really takes the entire river and jacks up their fishing.  Share this space or even meet an angler and play what I like to call baseball.  Take turns fishing each likely section.  10 minutes per person and then you switch.  If you catch a fish, you switch or if you get 3 strikes and miss them, then you’re out and the other angler is in.  It can be just as fun to watch the strikes and other angler as it is to fish.

Watch for private property here as it is mostly private with few public spots (marked on access map below).  Enjoy the fishery and the hopeful solitude.  With so many creeks like this in the Southpark area, it’s easy to find some peace and quiet and a few trout to go along with it.
